Teresa Tunnadine CEO

Teresa Tunnadine was a head for 17 years at The Compton School and an NLE since 2006. Since 2017 she has become the CEO of Middlesex Learning Trust multi academy trust with The Compton as its founding school which is an outstanding mixed secondary academy in Barnet, North London. Between 2003-12 Teresa worked as part of a team of consultant heads for London Challenge supporting a range of schools in London. Additionally she ran a local primary school for a year taking it out of an LA category and was a member of a Primary IEB in its transition to academy status.

In 2012 The Compton was designated as one of the first 100 national Teaching Schools and continues to lead an alliance of 22 schools.  Teresa has been involved with Challenge Partners as a Senior Partner since its inception and was an OFSTED inspector from 2012-15. She has also been a member of one of the Regional Schools Commissioner Headteacher Boards since 2014 and currently sits on the Teaching School Council coordinating the work of 100+ Teaching Schools in North West London South Central. Teresa is currently the Chair of the DFE Secondary Headteachers’ Reference Group, advising the DFE on a wide range of policies.

In 2013 she received an honorary doctorate from Middlesex University for her contribution to the education system nationally and received a CBE for services to education in the Queen’s birthday honours.​


Qualifications include:

BSc (Hons) Geography from London School of Economics

PGCE from London University

Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Cambridge University

National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH)
