Teresa Tunnadine CEO

I became Chief Executive Officer at The Compton in August 2017 with responsibility for developing The Compton as a Multi Academy Trust including establishing a Compton secondary free school in Barnet. Previously I was Headteacher at The Compton between 1999 and 2016, and Executive headteacher 2016-17 having joined The Compton in 1992 as Deputy Headteacher when the school first opened. I became a National Leader of Education (NLE) in 2006 providing support for schools within London and nationally.

I am currently a member of the Regional School Commissioner’s Headteacher Board, providing advice on academies and free schools in North West London and South Central England (NWLSC). I am also Chair of The Department for Education’s Secondary Headteachers’ Reference Group and the Teaching School Council Lead, working on behalf of the National College, coordinating the work of the 110 teaching schools in NWLSC. I was awarded an honorary doctorate by Middlesex University and also a CBE in the birthday honours both 2013 for services to education nationally. 

Qualifications include:

  • BSc (Hons) Geography from London School of Economics
  • PGCE from London University
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Cambridge University
